Uniform Descriptions
Uniform skirts and jumpers must be purchased from True Grits uniform company. Uniform shorts, pants may be True Grits or Department Store Uniform brand (No Cargo type pants/shorts allowed). White polo shirts may be purchased at Department stores also.

Girls (K - 5)
Jumper - Hamilton plaid; should reach the top of the knee; (gr. 4-5 may wear plaid skirt instead of jumper) Shorts are worn under jumper/skirt.
Blouse - white Peter Pan collar or white polo shirt; tucked in at all times
T-shirt - only white (plain or SHA) may be worn under uniform blouse/shirt
Turtleneck - only white to be worn under uniform shirt
Sweatshirt – only school sweatshirts may be worn; warmer jackets may be worn outside only
Pants - navy twill (No Cargo-type, low rise or slim fit)
Shorts - navy twill; should reach the top of the knee; (No Cargo-type, low-rise or slim fit)
Socks – SOLID red, white or navy (must be anklets, crew or knee socks) –ankle must be covered
Tights - SOLID red , white or navy
Shoes – Athletic or Tennis shoes that tie or have Velcro closing; they must be solid color: Black, Blue, Brown or White (complementary lines acceptable); Laces of same color
Belt - (grades K-3) Optional
(grades 4-5) solid color: red, white, navy, black, brown, or khaki

Hair (All Grades)
Hair should be washed and well-groomed and should not obstruct vision. Boy’s hair should be no longer than the top of the uniform shirt collar. Sides may be no longer than 1 inch below the ears. Girls may wear simple barrettes or hair ties (school colors are red, white or blue). No hats, scarves or bandanas. Dyed or spiked hair or other radical hair styles are not permitted.
Jewelry (Only the following Is Permitted)
Girls may wear a religious medal/chain or scapular. A watch may be worn. Only one set of single stud earrings are allowed, and must be worn on the lobe. Earrings may not be large and may not dangle (safety issue).
Boys may wear a religious medal/chain or scapular. A watch may be worn. Earrings are not allowed on boys.
No other bracelets or jewelry are allowed.
Makeup
Make-up/glitter is not allowed at any time. Clear nail polish is allowed; no fake/false nails are allowed. Only clear, colorless lip gloss/chapstick is allowed. Tattoos are not allowed.
P.E. Uniform
The P. E. uniform is the SHA T-shirt (or, red Catholic Schools Week t-shirt) and red uniform shorts. In cold weather the red uniform sweatshirt may be worn with red uniform sweatpants.
Gr. K-5 students must wear their P.E. uniform to school on P.E. days.
Gr. 6-8 students will change clothes for P.E. class and change back, unless their class is the last period of the day.
P.E. uniforms are purchased from our sweatshirt provider (Ruben)
Scout Uniforms - Scouts may wear their uniform tops on their meeting day (except on P.E. days).
Appropriate Dress for Non-Uniform
In respect for each student’s individuality, non-uniform days may be designated by the Principal. Please be reminded that students must dress in appropriate attire. Dresses, skirts, pants, and shorts should be in good taste. The following items are not allowed:
• Clothing with tobacco, alcohol, or drug symbols or advertising
• Clothing with suggestive or offensive writing or decoration
• Baggy, torn, or gang related items of clothing, camouflage tops/shorts/pants
• Extremely brief garments, bare midriff
• Form-fitting blouses, dresses, skirts, shorts, pants
• Spaghetti strap, strapless, tank, sleeveless or athletic tops
• Shorts/skirts must reach the top of the knee
• Non-uniform shorts must be same length as school shorts
• Shoes must be closed toe and heel, (no platforms) and be worn with socks
• All hair, jewelry and make-up regulations still apply on non-uniform days
If students are given a non-uniform day and dress inappropriately, they will call home for their parents to bring their uniform to wear.
Uniforms will be checked daily by homeroom teachers. Appropriate action will be taken with students who choose not to comply with uniform regulations. Students who choose to comply with the uniform code (P.E. uniform included) and have had no uniform violations within the calendar month will earn a non-uniform day on the first Monday of the following month.
